Position Overview
The RMA Supervisor oversees the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) process at our Mississauga warehouse, managing a team of unionized employees. Key responsibilities include ensuring efficient processing, sorting, and shipping of returned goods while meeting performance targets and adhering to company policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire returns process within the bulk facility, including scheduling/receiving returned goods, inspecting their condition, determining eligibility for refunds, and putting away the bulk back to its original pick face.
- Review daily productivity of all returns associate to ensure daily targets are met.
- Lead and supervise a team of unionized warehouse employees, overseeing task delegation, training, coaching, and implementing corrective measures to address daily operational challenges effectively.
- Develop, communicate, and implement a comprehensive daily shift plan, aligning work assignments with daily priorities, equipment availability, and warehouse space utilization to optimize efficiency.
- Utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) to continuously monitor warehouse performance, with a primary focus on cost controls, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Provide regular updates to the Warehouse Manager on shift targets, operational issues, and daily production reports to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Maintain meticulous inventory accuracy by conducting periodic spot-checks of inventory levels, supplies, and equipment, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
- Ensure timely shipment of orders to customers, investigating any incidents of lost or damaged shipments and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement, recommending enhancements to work procedures to enhance productivity, safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Strategically plan warehouse layout and space requirements to minimize loss or damage and achieve optimal warehouse utilization.
- Enforce security and safety policies to uphold a secure and hazard-free working environment for all warehouse staff.
- Apply disciplinary measures in a fair and consistent manner in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) provisions, maintaining detailed records and documentation.
- Collaborate closely with Human Resources on labour relations issues, fostering positive working relationships and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Oversee and ensure adherence to Health and Safety processes, policies, and procedures.
Ideal Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in a supervisory role ideally in a unionized warehouse environment
- A proven leader with strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization
- Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse management, and transportation management
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Experience with MS Office, radio frequency ID systems (RFID), bar code systems, and electronic data interchange (EDI) is an asset
- Diploma, degree or post-secondary education or equivalent experience
